The Three Parts of Quilting

Quilting is divided into 3 equally important areas: piecing, pressing and quilting. All 3 require practice and skill to master. Failure to pay proper attention to any of these areas will result in poor results.

Tools of the Trade

The tools available to quilters today are as amazing as they are varied. The choices can be overwhelming to a beginning quilter, not to mention overwhelming to the pocketbook. Start out with just the basics you need to get started. You can always add specialty tools later as future projects call for them.

1. Fabric
2. Sewing machine and accessories
3. Needles
4. Rotary cutter and mat
5. Scissors
5. Acrylic rulers
6. Cotton thread
7. Pins
8. Fabric marking pencil
9. Seam ripper
10. Tape
11. Batting
12. Iron and ironing board
